- About this table

For highlights, how long to allow and how busy it gets, see our visit report from the Edo-Tokyo Museum.
Filter the works
Check the works on show at the Tokyo venue by display period, by whether they also travelled to Nagoya or Osaka, and by their links to manga, games and television. Visiting more than once? Open Advanced search and use “Show what’s new since your last visit”. Closing days are taken into account.
The visit-date comparison is active, so the display-period filters above are switched off.
A date entered under “Show what’s new since your last visit” overrides the period and venue filters above. Within medium, title and type of connection the options combine with OR; across the three boxes they combine with AND.
Within one venue the halves combine with OR; different venues combine with AND. Choosing a “change from the first half” option overrides the Tokyo display period. “Tokyo only” cannot be combined with the Nagoya or Osaka filters.
How dates are handled, and notes on sources
- Tokyo: first half 15 Sep – 12 Oct, second half 14 Oct – 8 Nov 2026
- Nagoya: first half 18 Apr – 17 May, second half 19 May – 14 Jun 2026
- Osaka: first half 8 Jul – 3 Aug, second half 5 Aug – 31 Aug 2026
- Where the official list gives a specific date range, that range is kept as written. The visit-date comparison judges by those actual dates rather than by the first/second half division.
- The Tokyo work numbers and display periods have been checked against the official list issued by the Tokyo Metropolitan Edo-Tokyo Museum (130 works).
- Display periods for Nagoya and Osaka are not given in the Tokyo list and come from separate sources. Numbers 41, 56, 135, 136 and 137 carry specific dates and are worth confirming against each venue’s own list.
- “Full run”, “pages rotated”, “sections rotated” and “screens rotated” mean the work is present throughout, not that it stays open at the same page or screen.
- Closing days are taken into account. Tokyo closes every Monday — except 21 September, 12 October and 2 November, when it opens — and closes additionally on 24 September, 13 October and 4 November. Nagoya closes Mondays (open 4 May, closed 7 May) and Osaka closes Tuesdays (open 11 August). Choosing a closing day tells you so. Please check each venue for current opening days.
- Media connections are grouped into three kinds: the object itself appears, a person depicted in it appears, or an event or place shown in it appears. A connection through a person or a place does not mean the exhibited object is seen on screen.
- In-game heirlooms and drama props share a name with the exhibited object but are not the same physical item. Each entry says how the two relate.
- Sources are labelled Official, Official blog, Publication, Secondary source, Game database and External source. The last three supplement details that official material does not cover.
- “Same title or rotated” groups works that share a title, or that replace one another between halves. Seeing one in the first half does not mean you have seen the others.
- English titles marked ◆ follow the holding institution’s own English wording. All other English titles are working translations by Following the Shogun, made to the conventions those institutions use; the Japanese title is given beneath each one.
